Job Description

Overview :

The Welder/Fabrication C is responsible for planning, laying out, and fabricating complex production and experimental metal parts and assemblies using a wide range of tools and processes. This role interprets blueprints and work instructions, performs inspections to ensure parts meet required tolerances, and troubleshoots issues within established procedures. The position works under limited supervision, collaborates with teams across departments, and may serve as a resource to others.

Duties :

  • Plans work and layout, sets up and fabricates a wide variety of intricate, experimental and/or production sheet metal parts and final assemblies from raw material.
  • Includes shears, brakes, drills, sanders, degreasing baths, spray painting, silk screening, non-conformance, and manual mills and lathes, mig, tig and spot welding and other hand tools and equipment.
  • Works with and interprets standard work instructions, charts, tables, blueprints, formulas, sketches, verbal and electronic orders, job layouts, etc. to accomplish assigned work.
  • Checks and inspects operations against specified tolerances.
  • Work may be structured within identified boundaries and procedures. Follows established processes to complete tasks.
  • Identifies problems and issues in straightforward situations.
  • Communicates with contacts typically within and outside the department on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to understand and reach agreement.
  • May be a resource to other employees in areas of proficiency.
  • Works under limited supervision. Less detailed instructions are provided and minimal peer review is required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
