Motion Designer (Contract)

Evil Eye Pictures is looking for a contract Motion Designer to join our team. In this position, you will be responsible for conceptualizing and executing high-fidelity motion graphics that bridge the gap between traditional 2D design and immersive 3D broadcast environments.

We are looking for a candidate with at least 5 years of production experience in broadcast, commercials, or live events, with a proven track record of designing and animating sophisticated motion elements under tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Development: Design, develop, and deliver high-end graphic elements and integrated components tailored for a 3D XR broadcast studio environment.
  • Multidimensional Animation: Seamlessly move between 3D and 2D applications to generate fluid animations for transitions, on-air toolkits, and comprehensive broadcast packages.
  • End-to-End Ownership: Take full ownership of projects from initial concept and style frames through to final delivery and implementation.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with our Asset Lead and VFX Supervisor to ensure animation projects align with the overall visual goals and technical constraints of the production.
  • Visual Storytelling: Translate complex creative briefs into compelling visual narratives, ensuring all assets adhere to platform-specific best practices and broadcast standards.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in motion graphics design and animation, VFX, and compositing, with a portfolio that demonstrates a mastery of timing, design, and layout.
  • Software Mastery: Advanced proficiency in Adobe After Effects and Photoshop is essential. You must be able to work independently, maintaining "clean" project files that are easily navigable by other team members.
  • Production Agility: A highly creative and technically skilled designer who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and can pivot quickly based on creative direction.
  • Workflow Optimization: Expertise in creating and utilizing smart templates, toolkits, and MOGRTs to streamline the production pipeline for internal teams or clients.
  • Aesthetic Eye: A proven design sensibility with an emphasis on typography, color theory, and spatial awareness within a 3D environment.

Good to Have:

  • 3D Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Cinema 4D (C4D) or Houdini.
  • Real-time Engines: Familiarity with Unreal Engine and the Virtual Art Department (VAD) workflow.
  • A passion for sports broadcasting or live event technology.
  • Experience in compositing CG render passes and an understanding of broadcast standards.

Additional Information

  • Portfolio: Please include a link to a reel of your work when applying for this position.
  • Location: This is a remote position supporting our Virtual Studio.
  • Contract Duration: This project runs roughly 5/4-7/17
