Job Description

The Inventory Analyst is responsible for overseeing inventory performance, analyzing inventory data, and developing strategies to optimize inventory levels across the supply chain. This role supports operational efficiency, working capital optimization, and service level improvement by using data analysis, forecasting techniques, and inventory management best practices. The position collaborates closely with supply chain, procurement, logistics, and finance teams.

Essential Functions:

  1. Analyzes inventory levels, turnover, and trends to identify risks and opportunities.
  2. Monitors key inventory performance metrics such as inventory turns, weeks of supply, fill rates, service levels, obsolescence, and slow-moving inventory.
  3. Develops dashboards and reports for leadership using ERP and analytics tools.
  4. Performs root-cause analysis on inventory KPI’s and report to the organization.
  5. Works in conjunction with purchasing to establish and maintain safety stock levels, reorder points, and stocking strategies.
  6. Optimizes inventory across manufacturing sites and warehouses.
  7. Supports demand planning and supply planning activities to balance supply with demand.
  8. Identifies excess and obsolete inventory along with recommend mitigation strategies.
  9. Leads continuous improvement initiatives to improve inventory accuracy and efficiency.
  10. Works with IT or data teams to improve inventory data integrity.
  11. Collaborates with purchasing to analyze customer forecast changes that cause excess inventory positions.
  12. Works with Buyers to prioritize and follow-up on material shortages to ensure timely delivery and minimize production slowdowns or shortages.
  13. Partners with procurement and sourcing teams to align inventory with lead times and supplier performance.
  14. Provides support to operations and logistics teams in managing stock transfers and replenishment strategies.
  15. Provides analysis and documentation for the Supply Chain Leadership Team to review.
  16. Supports strategic supply chain initiatives such as network optimization or S&OP processes.
  17. Communicates effectively often with team members and supervisors.
  18. Other duties can be assigned based on company needs and employee capabilities.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. At times, the role will need to coordinate a group or a team in order to achieve company goals on an interim/project basis.

Work Environment:

This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. At times, employee might be exposed to manufacturing environment, including forklift traffic, fumes, noise, and operating manufacturing equipment.

Physical Demands:

  1. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  2. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. In order to meet our customer demands and internal objectives, at times this role will be required to work outside of the normal schedule, including weekends.

Travel:

There may be occasional local day travel or overnight travel as it related to training activities or support of assigned plants/locations.

Required Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience and/or education.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a multi-location and/or multi-state organization.
  3. Strong analytical skills with the ability to assimilate data into useful reports.
  4. Excellent communications skills required, with the ability to articulate solutions to complex issues.
  5. Knowledge of inventory planning methodologies and forecasting concepts.
  6. Familiarity with supply chain KPIs and performance metrics.
  7. Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
  8. Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; capable of learning and utilizing ERP systems to access data.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  1. Experience working in a fast pace, high-growth company.
  2. APICS certification or other related Supply Chain certifications
  3. Project Management experience.
  4. Manufacturing, Distribution or global supply chain experience.
  5. Strong Microsoft Office knowledge and application.
  6. Minimum of 5 years of experience.
