Job Description

We are an off-premise catering company and execute between 5 and 20+ events company-wide in any given week. This role is structured as a full-time exempt position, compensated by salary and commission. The Event Specialist is tasked with building and maintaining industry relationships, selling events, coordinating final event details and working with the event production team in the planning final logistics. You will often be attending your events, which may occur in the evenings and on weekends.

This position includes a base salary plus commissions. Total expected first year income should be around $60k-$75k depending on sales volume.

  • Excellent skills in guest services and catering
  • Ability to handle multiple requests in a fast-paced environment and prioritize accordingly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Clean Driving record
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Be willing to assist with other company and event related duties as assigned and deemed necessary.

Job Description

Sales and Event Planning

  • Continuously prospect for new business in the corporate, social, non-profit and wedding markets
  • Manage professional time effectively through prioritization of tasks and task lists. These tasks include client contact, building of proposals and expedient returning of phone calls. Smart time management is a key to success in an autonomous sales role.
  • Keep an active and open pipeline of prospects and potential clients.
  • Follow the Delectables Fine Catering script book throughout the entire sales process
  • Attain quarterly and annual sales goals as laid out in your sales plan
  • Manage the ongoing relationships with clients that you have sold to
  • Master use of our catering software program, Total Party Planner, where you will build and revise proposals for clients.
  • As you book events, enter relevant information into Total Party Planner. Ensure all details are correct and updated throughout the event planning process.
  • Oversee all details for the events that you sell, including: TPP input, rental orders, final details, pack lists, final client meetings, and communication with other departments of Delectables Fine Catering to ensure successful planning and execution
  • Make custom signage and work in conjunction with event team as they pack all relevant equipment for your events.
  • Often attend weekly manager’s meetings to discuss the planning and execution of events sold by you.
  • Conduct site visits for any venues or event locations where you have not previously worked.
  • This role will require you to often attend events that you have sold, which may occur on weekends and evenings.
  • Follow up with your clients after each event, via email, phone or the most appropriate method of communication.

 

Marketing

  • Prospect for new grassroots marketing opportunities
  • Evaluate ROI for marketing opportunities and work to market the company into new areas and markets.
  • Manage and maintain professional relationships with other wedding and event professionals, including:
  • holding private meetings with event professionals to learn about their business and tell them about ours, and
  • Attend 2 monthly networking events, company paid
  • Follow written company and personal marketing plan
  • Experience in social media marketing is a plus.
