Our client, a private label apparel company, is seeking an Assistant Designer to join their team on a temporary basis for approximately six months. This role will support the design team during a maternity leave coverage, with an ideal start date in early April to allow for a thorough training and transition period ahead of the leave in June. This is a full-time opportunity offering hands-on experience across the design and development process within a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Onsite 5 days.
Responsibilities:
• Support the design team in developing seasonal collections across multiple private label accounts
• Assist with creating CADs, technical sketches, and presentation boards
• Organize and maintain design files, fabric libraries, and sample tracking
• Assist in preparing for fittings, including measuring samples and taking detailed notes
• Communicate with cross-functional teams including product development, production, and merchandising
• Help source fabrics, trims, and inspiration aligned with customer and brand direction
• Ensure all design deliverables are completed accurately and on calendar
• Support day-to-day administrative needs of the design team
Qualifications:
• 1–3 years of experience in an apparel design or assistant design role, preferably within private label
• Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
• Ability to create clean, accurate technical sketches and CADs
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• Degree in Fashion Design or a related field preferred
